Lead Dispatcher

Our client is a Canadian owned and operated transport company providing service throughout Canada and the United States. They provide everything from the logistical planning to the transport and delivery of heavy industrial equipment and materials. Headquartered in the Atlantic provinces, they are a homegrown company with a wide reach. They provide services such as tilt deck transport for heavy machinery and materials, oversized load transport, onsite lift services, vehicle escort services, and more.

The Role: 

We are currently recruiting for a Lead Dispatcher, responsible for overseeing the daily operations. This position will be working at our clients head office in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.  You will report to the president in dispatch/operational functions concerning the day-to-day operations of the company including pick-ups, deliveries, and manpower planning.

  • 100 Trucks dispatched daily;
  • Provide Leadership to drivers and dispatch team;
  • Manage available resources (drivers & equipment);
  • Manage customer expectations;
  • Maintain dispatch book and understand the job needs;
  • Organize daily moves and dispatch drivers;
  • Respond to drivers on two way radio in a timely manner; 
  • Able to work Saturday mornings, on call in the evenings and weekends;
  • Positive can do attitude, lead by example.

  • Customer service focused attitude
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in a supervisory position considered an asset;
  • Experience in either the Transportation, Driving, Warehousing, Freight Handling, or Dispatch Operations industry considered an asset;
  • Must be able to manage high work volumes, multiple priorities, and meeting multiple deadlines;
